Social Responsibility

Genop currently supports the following charities:

South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind - Puppy Sponsorship

Genop Healthcare’s sponsorship towards puppy training will allow Erin to train as a guide dog. Our sponsorship of the South African Guide-Dogs Association For The Blind will assist with the councils mission to enhance mobility, independence and dignity of blind and partially sighted people and to advocate the recognition and protection of the rights of all persons with disabilities.

Netcare Foundation on Craniofacial Programme

Genop Healthcare has donated R30,000.00 towards the Craniofacial Programme at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital. The craniofacial programme was started in November 2008. The occurrence of craniofacial anomalies is estimated to be 1 in every 2000 live births. Most of these are congenital and result in deformities that can be very disfiguring to the children. These children have been “hidden” from society and in most cases have been forced to grow up as hermits. The programme is currently being run from Sunninghill Hospital where children and adults can be offered corrective surgery for their craniofacial disorders giving them the opportunity to be part of society with the potential of living a normal life.

Cataract Surgery Outreach 2014

For the third year running, the Wits Rural Health Club took to the Eastern Cape this September to run its Cataract Surgery Outreach at St Barnabas Hospital in Libode. Genop Healthcare donated surgical consumables and lent  the Wits Rural Health Club a slit lamp free of charge for the Cataract Surgery Outreach 2014. These items were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital by the club that same night.
